Bail decreased in driver's negligence in motor scooter death

In the wake of tragic circumstances, it can be very easy for residents of Prince George's County to be at a loss where to turn. When motor vehicle accidents happen in Maryland, the turmoil that occurs as a result of the situation may leave victims feeling lost.

A car crash involving a motor scooter occurred last month and resulted in the death the 30-year-old rider. The rider was reportedly struck from behind by a tan Buick LeSabre. The man was then thrown from the scooter, dying from his injuries. The driver responsible for the incident did not stop after the accident occurred. A short while later, a tan Buick LeSabre was pulled over by other law enforcement personnel. The Buick LeSabre had a motor scooter attached to the front of it.

The 22-year-old driver of the Buick was charged with failing to stop his vehicle at the scene of an accident resulting in death, and failure to return to the scene of the accident resulting in death. In addition to these charges, the driver was charged with failure to report a death to the nearest police station. In lieu of a $1 million bond the driver was being detained at the Montgomery County Detention Center. Following a bond hearing bail was reduced to $15,000 and once posted the driver was released until his next court appearance in November.

While it may provide some relief to the family of the victim that the driver responsible for the death of their loved one will face harsh consequences for his actions. In Prince George's County, a personal injury lawyer may be of great assistance to those seeking advice regarding driver's negligence and how to recover compensation for expenses and loss.
