Prince George's County auto accident kills one, injures four

A car accident in Prince George's County left one man dead and four others in critical condition. No charges have yet been filed by officials in connection with the motor vehicle accident. However, it remains under investigation.

According to officials with the Prince George's County Fire unit, the accident happened at a Hyattsville Home Depot. A 79-year-old man had arrived at the store to go shopping, but it was closed at the time. Upon leaving the parking lot, he suffered from an undetermined medical emergency that caused him to lose control of the vehicle. Tragically, the vehicle struck six people who were standing on one of the islands in the parking lot.

One of the victims, a 41-year-old man, subsequently died from his injuries. Four others remained in an area hospital, where they were listed in critical condition. The condition of the driver or the type of medical emergency he suffered was not available.

In some cases, a driver may not necessarily be at fault for an auto accident because it was the result of a medical condition, especially if that condition was previously unknown to the driver. Sometimes inclement weather may play a part in motor vehicle accidents. Nonetheless, victims or family members of individuals involved in automobile accidents may find having a discussion with an attorney who has experience with personal injuries valuable. A wrongful death occurs when a victim dies because of the negligent or deliberate conduct of another. When a person is injured or killed through no fault of their own, they deserve to have the ability to seek recovery for their damages.
