Maryland State Highway employee killed and second injured

In Maryland, there are a slew of dangerous jobs. Policing, highway patrols, and highway workers all have a difficult job to do, and with the amount of traffic and people these workers see every day, on-the-job accidents are bound to happen on occasion. Sadly, one Maryland State Highway Administration employee was killed recently and a second is receiving treatment after a car crashed into their worksite, according to the Maryland State Police.

The accident took place at around 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 14, according to police. When it happened, a 50-year-old man and veteran of the State Highway Administration was killed and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The second victim, a 38-year-old man from Middle River, was taken to the hospital for treatment and was being treated at Shock Trauma, according to the news.

Police reported that there had been a gold Volvo that struck the 50-year-old man, but they do not yet know why the Volvo left the roadway. The workers had been working on Interstate 695 near Belair Road, according to the news. The Volvo's driver, a 61-year-old woman from Pikesville, had to be taken to a hospital for evaluation as well.

The Maryland State Police Sergeant stated that this accident highlights why those in Maryland should be aware of the Move Over Law. This law asks people to drive in a different lane when they see construction work.

Injuries like those that happened in this accident are life altering. One man was killed and another was severely injured. If you've been injured due to a driver's negligence while you worked at a construction site or were injured on the job in any other way, you may have the right to seek compensation in various forms. Whether you seek workers' compensation or money for your pain and suffering, you deserve to have your case looked at and reviewed.
