Woman killed when pinned by her bus at work

If you've been hurt while on the job, you are probably aware that you'll have medical bills to deal with. When your injury is a result of dangers at work, it's likely that you should receive workers' compensation for your injuries. If you have questions about what you deserve to receive, an attorney may be able to help.

Maryland-based readers might have heard about this tragic work accident that cost the life of a worker in Silver Spring. News from Dec. 31 reports that a 47-year-old woman was killed when she was injured on the job while working with a Metrobus in Silver Spring. Reports state that the woman was killed when she was pinned against the wall by the bus.

How could that happen? According to reports, the woman was taking a break, but the bus began to roll forward and pinned her to the wall. She allegedly reached inside to grab the brake, but the incident happened too quickly for the bus to stop. The woman had been a Metrobus driver for six years, and coworkers stated that she was loved by those around her. According to the news, her friends and family gathered for her funeral on Dec. 31.

The report didn't say whether OSHA would be looking into the incident or investigating to see if any safety violations had occurred, but in many cases, this is a requirement when someone is hurt or killed on the job. In any case, the health and safety of workers should be the primary concern of any employer or workplace.
