Did medical mistake cause death of knee infection patient?

Waiting for a loved one go through a surgical procedure may be intimidating and cause anxiety in Maryland. Learning that the same loved one has passed away due to complications with the surgery is tragic and often infuriating, particularly when the physician charged with the patient's care was negligent. One woman recently filed a medical malpractice lawsuit after her father died due to an apparent medical mistake.

In this out-of-state case, the woman said her dad was taken to a medical center. After being admitted there, his health quickly worsened. As a result, she ultimately elected to sue the former orthopedic surgeon who was responsible for her dad's care.

The situation took place when the woman's father had an infected knee. Reportedly, he was told to take over-the-counter medication and keep his leg up. He continued to have extreme pain and ended up dying. During the subsequent medical malpractice trial, another orthopedic surgeon testified in the doctor's defense, saying that his treatment of the male patient was reasonable care in that specialty field.

It is essential for liability claims to be established according to the requirements of our civil court system. This has to be done before claims for financial damages are specifically considered. Financial restitution from a successfully fought claim certainly can help to address emotional distress as well as pain and suffering occasioned by medical malpractice. It also can help to cover medical costs, end of-life expenses and other financial losses recognized under Maryland laws. When a fatal medical mistake occurs, the deceased victim's family members reserve the right to seek justice.
