Texting while driving led to a fatal motorcycle accident

In Prince George, Maryland, and throughout the country, it is common knowledge that riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than driving a car. Cars and other motor vehicles have safety features like airbags and seatbelts that reduce the risks of serious injuries in case of an accident or collision with other vehicles. Motorcycles, on the other hand, do not offer those safety features, putting the riders' lives at risks.

Drivers who are careless on the road also pose a threat to the lives of motorcyclists. Last March, a 30-year-old motorcyclist from Virginia was killed when a car driven by a 20-year-old woman struck him. The driver was texting while driving when the motor vehicle accident happened on Route 3 in Gambrills, Maryland.

Recently, a court hearing was held in Anne Arundel County Court. Emotions poured in as the family of the deceased demanded justice for the loss of their loved one due to the negligence of another. According to Anne Arundel County State's Attorney, the case against the driver who caused the crash is strong due to a witness account, which stated that the woman was holding her phone and texting, while the other was on the steering wheel. Phone records also show that the driver was sending text messages when the crash happened.

The driver is facing numerous charges, including negligent manslaughter.

Justice is served once the suspect is convicted of the charges. Aside from criminal charges, the suspect can be held liable for the surviving family members' incurred damages and losses.

In this case, a wrongful death suit is the best option for the surviving family members of the deceased. It will give the fiancée and daughter of the deceased the chance to compensate for their losses following the death of their loved one. The plaintiff may wish to speak with an attorney for representation and other related concerns.
