Man injured on the job passes away from injuries

Readers in Maryland may have been injured at work before, so you know what it's like to have to request funds from workers' compensation and other sources. When you're injured on the job, the last thing you want to happen is for that compensation not to arrive on time. Of course, with the right help, that can quickly be remedied.

You might have heard about this incident in Delaware where a man was killed on the job in an industrial accident. According to the April 4 report, the former Somerset County warden was killed when installing electrical services at a vacant house in Harrington, Delaware. While he was working, he was caught between a pole and forklift, according to the Delaware State Police.

The accident happened early in the morning at around 9:30 a.m., so it should have been light enough to avoid any accidents due to dim lighting or nightfall. According to the corporal of the Delaware State Police, foul play is not suspected. Following the incident, the victim was rushed to Milford Memorial Hospital by ambulance. There, he was pronounced dead, according to the story, and his body was later sent to the medical examiner for review for the investigation into his death.

The man had previously worked as a warden, and then retired to run the county's animal control department in 2008. In 2013, he left that job and started this new job with AET Electric of Parsonsburg, which is where he was working at the time of his death. Since no foul play is expected, it's unlikely that the business will face charges, but there may be workers' compensation issues to work out. The man did have a son who may benefit from the workers' compensation claim for the loss of his father.
