Construction accident kills 1 when excavator tips over

When you work in an industrial or construction setting in Maryland, there are risks you face every day. In this news out of Virginia, a man working in Arlington has reportedly died in a work accident, and this has led to an investigation into the situation. Like cases where you've been hurt or you've lost a loved one on the job, it's important to know exactly what happened, and that's why this case is under investigation. In your case, if an investigation shows that your employer or machinery was at fault, you may be entitled to compensation to help cover your medical bills.

According to the article from May 19 about this sudden accident, the unidentified man was killed when a piece of equipment hit him. The accident took place at approximately 3:30 p.m., and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Arlington police and medical examiner arrived on the scene shortly after the accident, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was reportedly headed on its way to the scene to investigate.

There aren't a lot of specifics available as to what happened to the man, and the construction accident is still under investigation. Preliminary reports could only show that the excavator being used at the construction site at Fourth Street and George Mason Drive had tipped over and killed the man. He was believed to have been the driver of the vehicle.

In this case, it's possible that the OSHA could fault the worker's company if the man was using faulty equipment or working in an unsafe manner. In the meantime, the police and OSHA will investigate the case to make sure all parts of the accident are understood, and any safety issues can be fixed.
