Lawsuit filed for alleged surgical errors that led to amputation

Surgeries are performed in Maryland and all across the country every day. Some are considered basic or routine, while others are emergent or more complex. No matter what the need for surgery may be, patients should be able to trust that surgical staff will adequately and accurately perform the procedure required. It is an unfortunate truth that surgical errors do happen, and these medical mistakes can have severe lifelong consequences for the patient.

In another state, a man recently filed a medical malpractice claim against two doctors, a hospital, a clinic and a medical group. The lawsuit alleges that a routine circumcision resulted in the amputation of the patient's penis. Few details have been released about this case, but a representative of the hospital denies any wrongdoing.

The reason behind this supposedly mistaken amputation has not been made public. The patient claims the result of this surgery has caused both him and his wife undue pain and suffering. They are seeking monetary compensation, though the amount desired has not been specified.

Surgical errors, such as those alleged in this case, can have a negative impact on the patient and their family members. These errors can result in the need for further medical treatments, resulting in outrageous medical bills and loss of income for time away from work for care. The pain and suffering can also pull family members apart, sometimes even damaging relationships. Patients in Maryland who feel they have been the victim of a surgical error don't have to face the situation alone. A medical malpractice claim can be filed against those considered responsible, and a properly presented claim could result in financial recompense through an out-of-court settlement or litigation, if required.
