Fatal Maryland motorcycle accident claims local fire lieutenant

Wrongful death options offer support to families following a fatal accident. A recent Maryland motorcycle crash claimed the lives of two people. One of the motorcycle accident victims was a local county fire lieutenant with the county fire department. The 63-year old victim had completed a shift as a fire dispatcher and is believed to have been on his way home when the crash occurred. The second motorcycle was driven by a 23-year old man who crossed the center line on a slight curve and struck the fire lieutenant head on. The two motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the motorcycle accident.

The local fire chief offered condolences and support to the fire lieutenant's family members. The unexpected loss of a loved one is overwhelming for anyone. Understanding how the legal process works, and can help, can be useful to surviving family members coping with the emotional and financial stress of the loss of a loved one. Wrongful death claims are designed to protect family members from the damages that may result from an unexpected fatal accident negligently caused by another party.

It is important to note that the legal process accounts for a number of different circumstances. Insurance companies are often involved and wrongful death actions are brought by the estate of the victim on behalf of, and for the benefit of, surviving family members. Wrongful death actions can be pursued against the responsible party or a responsible party's estate. A number of different options exist to ensure that families receive compensation for damages which can include medical and funeral expenses; loss of support and services; and pain and suffering damages, among others.

Families who have suffered a recent loss in an unexpected fatal crash are dealing with a lot and likely face emotional and financial damages as well. Because of the significant nature of the harm families may suffer, wrongful death legal options are available to them.
