Cool Parents Held Accountable in Tragic Motor Vehicle Collision

Maryland's Highest Court sent a clear message to all the "cool parents" out there. Maryland Court of Appeal addressed to what extent adults who allow underage persons to drink alcohol on their property are liable for injuries to an innocent person arising from youth intoxication in Kiriakos v. Phillips and Nancy Dankos, et al. v. Linda Stapf. Both cases involved teenagers drinking alcohol during a party at an adult's house. The teenagers left the house intoxicated and tragically car crashes occurred causing injuries and the loss of life.

Warning to all parents who allow underage drinking at their house: you may be held personally liable.
