1 injured in crash between motorcycle and cop cruiser

We all know that motor vehicle accidents can result in serious injuries. Motorcycle accidents, however, can be even worse when it comes to injuries. Such was the case in North Laurel when a motor vehicle crash involved a motorcycle and a police cruiser.

The incident occurred on November 13. According to county police, a 43-year-old Columbia man struck a police cruiser as the cruiser was moving through an intersection. The rider of the bike was injured and taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. His condition is not currently known. The officer was not injured.

Police report that the motor vehicle accident happened at around 9:40 in the morning at the intersection of Route 216 and Leishear Road. According to police Cpl. Christopher Krieger, the officer was traveling with both his emergency lights and his siren activated when he slowed down to enter the intersection. At that point, his cruiser was struck by a Harley Davidson motorcycle. It is not known if any charges are pending on either driver.

When accidents such as this happen, lots of questions are often left unanswered. While it may seem as if this is a simple case of driver's negligence on the part of the motorcycle rider, it may not be that simple. There may have been mitigating circumstances that contributed to the accident.

While all of the facts of this incident may not be known, what is known is that one person was injured in this accident and had to be hospitalized for his injuries. When injuries or death are the result of motor vehicle accidents, victims and families often want answers as to what exactly happened. One of the best ways to get those answers is to consider working with a Laurel area personal injury lawyer who may be able to get to the bottom of things and offer assistance in moving forward should there be grounds for a civil lawsuit.
