Woman files suit alleging medical mistake caused husband's death

When a doctor makes a mistake in Maryland, the results can be dangerous and, unfortunately, even fatal. One woman in another state recently claimed that two physicians who treated her husband made a medical mistake that caused him to die from a hemorrhage following a surgery. She has sued the two doctors.

According to the woman, her spouse was under one doctor's care for treatment of a hernia. The hernia was later surgically repaired. The woman said that the doctor should have realized that her husband had been taking aspirin because of other health conditions that he had; the aspirin thinned his blood, thus increasing his susceptibility to complications.

The woman said after her spouse was permitted to go home following the surgery, he had to be taken back to the medical center. Staff learned that he had a hemorrhage, with a couple of liters of blood having accumulated in the man's abdomen. He was under a different doctor's care during this emergency but later died due to complications.

The woman has accused both physicians of wrongful death and medical malpractice. In light of the alleged medical mistake, she is seeking damages for mental anguish, pain and suffering and emotional distress. She is also seeking damages for loss of retirement benefits, support and income as well as funeral expenses, medical costs and losing the enjoyment of life. Anybody in Maryland who loses a loved one due to a doctor's negligence has the right to try to hold the doctor accountable in a civil court.
