The Super Lawyers® selection process is quite intricate, as the criteria are quite challenging to excel in--even more so for those considered for the Super Lawyers® Rising Stars™ list. Firstly, candidates must be nominated by peers, or otherwise found through the extensive research of the selection committee. Next, nominees are evaluated through a number of important indicators, such as their position within the firm, experience, honors and awards, transactions, verdicts or settlements, scholarly work, community outreach or pro bono activity, professional activity, education, etc.
Once the candidate in question surpasses all expectations and requirements, he or she is evaluated by a Blue-Ribbon panel of peers from the same practice area, and then the final selection is made. Only 5% of participating attorneys are selected to the Super Lawyers® List, while half, 2.5%, are selected to Rising Stars™. Those selected to the Rising Stars™ list must be under the age of 40 or have been in practice for less than 10 years.
