Auto accident sends 4 people to the hospital, 1 critical

|

Auto accidents are frequent happenings in Prince Georges County, Maryland. A collision between two or more vehicles can result in an injury catastrophe. Auto accidents can be a result of driver negligence, engine malfunction or extreme weather conditions. If the accident was a result of driver carelessness or failure to exercise due care, the injured parties automatically earn the right to request compensation.

A recent two-car crash in nearby Montgomery County, Maryland, sent four people to the hospital and may have been caused by driver negligence. One of the injured was listed in a critical condition and three were young children. Based on the report, a truck heading west on a local road struck the driver's side of a minivan. The van driver and passengers aged nine, 11 and 12 years old were transported to the hospital. One of the children reportedly sustained life-threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition. The truck's driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.

Only the results of the investigation can determine which party caused the crash. Beyond determining responsibility for the crash, the injured parties should focus on recovery. If the results show the other party at fault, the victims can file personal injury lawsuits to provide compensation for medical expenses and other financial losses.

Maryland personal injury lawsuits can be settled by negotiation or litigation. Negotiation allows both parties to determine a fair and just settlement. If victims think that the settlement is not enough to cover losses, they may opt for litigation, allowing a judge to oversee the case and determine the appropriate awards and damages for the injured parties.
